High tech, high quality
New Zealand packhouses are high tech and highly professional. At the peak of the season, thousands of apples and pears are automatically graded and sorted every minute, ensuring high-quality standards, with complete origin tracking, from orchard, to packhouse, to export market.
Our automated systems not only ensure consistent quality in every box of fruit, they also free up our teams to focus on safety, quality control, and smooth-running operations.
FUTURE THINKERS PACKING CONSISTENCY
MICHAEL CACCIOPPOLI, LONGVIEW PACKHOUSE, HAWKE'S BAY
Technology has transformed the Longview Packhouse in Hawke's Bay. The family-owned and operated business is using state-of-the-art tech to improve consistency, delivering their customers boxes of perfect apples.
Automatic grading systems
Packhouses focus on ensuring only the best quality apples and pears make it to market.
They use inline high speed scanners to photograph every apple to check quality. Each apple is photographed more than 200 times from all angles looking for external and internal issues, and is sorted by size, quality, and colour to ensure only high-quality apples enter the market.
Automated palletisers
Gone are the days of heavy lifting for our packhouse teams.
Our packhouses now use automated palletisers to stack boxed apples ready for export.
