World class RSE programme
The Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) Scheme has been acknowledged by the United Nations, the World Bank and the International Labour Organisation as one of the best labour mobility programmes in the world.
Harvesting and packing is a labour-intensive operation, so the apple and pear industry brings in skilled people from 11 Pacific Island nations to provide highly-valued support at a critical time.
A critical part of the team
New Zealand regularly punches above our weight, but when it comes to harvest time, we couldn’t do without our valued RSE team.
Their skilled input, working alongside Kiwis, ensures we have enough people to pick, pack and process our fruit, maintaining the high quality and safety standards we set.
Our RSE team are a critical part of our apple and pear family.
Nurturing and developing people
People are at the heart of everything.
Many of our RSE team return to the same employer each year, reconnecting with the people and places they know. These unique relationships create strong bonds over time and grow opportunities for personal development and mentoring.
We also make sure our RSE's are cared for. By providing safe, friendly communities, with dedicated accommodation and full personal support, we make sure our RSE team is genuinely supported to be away from home.
Helping communities thrive
Our RSE teams acquire skills and income that have a great impact when they return home.
Armed with knowledge and finance, many return home to start businesses, build homes, provide for families and educate their children, and support their communities.
