Our Members
We represent all apple and pear growers and post-harvest groups across New Zealand, from small family businesses to global companies. While our members are diverse, they share one goal - to produce and sell the world’s best fruit.
OUR STORY
New Zealand Apples and Pears Inc. started in 1994 as the result of the Apple and Pear Marketing Board Restructuring Act.
Initially known as Pipfruit Growers New Zealand Inc, we were responsible for "Industry Good" functions such as research and development, implementation of the Integrated Fruit Production programme and technology transfer.
In 2000 the organisation was split into two branches, with Pipfruit Growers New Zealand Inc commercially focused and NZ Pipfruit Ltd working on Research and Development and technology transfer. By 2004, these branches were reunited again to form Pipfruit new Zealand inc., which was renamed New Zealand Apples & Pears Inc in 2017.
New Zealand Apples & Pears Inc. which was initially a growers only organisation, extended its membership to include packers, coolstore operators, marketers and associates such as horticultural suppliers and consultants.
